Dedicated to the martyr saints Fermo and Rustico, the church has ancient origins, before 1000 AD, as witnessed by the Lombard parchments kept in Piacenza’s Cathedral. According to them, in the 9th century Carpaneto was Episcopal Court. Though the church is not artistically valuable, it contains some frescoes dating back to the 16th century. The paintings in the central nave, representing the lives of the patron saints, belong to Bibiena’s school, and date back to the end of 1600, while the frescoes in the Rosary Virgin Chapel date back to the 18th century. It has been recently restored.
