The Museum opened in July 1998 and it is dedicated to the poet and playwright, Luigi Illica, citizen of Castell’Arquato.
Among his most famous librettoes: Tosca, Madame Butterfly and many more.
The Museum
The museum is divided into 3 sections:life, works, witness.
It preserves scores, ancient editions of librettoes, costumes, sculptures, photographies portraying Illica and the famous composers he worked with during his intense and adventurous life. There are also letters to and from famous people of the time.
It is made of three rooms:
- the first one displays all the information about Illica’s biography,
- in the second one there are two sections: one dedicated to drama, the other one to Illica’s librettist activity. He wrote 37 librettos.
