The castle, probably already existing in the 10th century, was rebuilt at the end of the 14th century by Scotti family after its destruction during the war, becoming the owners’ residence in the 17th century.
It presents almost all defensive features on the south-western side, where the enemy attacks were more likely to come. The donjon has a quadrangular plan and presents arrow slits. Inside there is a didactic itinerary that will lead visitors in the discovery of the borough and its architectural peculiarities,also by means of photograps. The donjon communicates through a bailey with the southern tower, therefore with the residential part of the castle, now belonging to private owners. The residential rooms have been redesigned in the 18th and 19th centuries, and in more recent years: very little is left of the original structure, only few panelled ceilings and a small theatre with its original decorations from the 18th century.
