The itinerary proposed is a long and staged trekking on Trebbia and Nure valleys’ ridges: an itinerary that allows trekkers to tread the old ways of the salt along which travelled coaches transporting corn to Genoa and then went back to Pianura Padana full of olive oil, salt and spices.
STAGE 2: “Stoto”‘s abode – Ciregna (5-6 hrs)THE TRACK: The track begins with a bridle path in the wood in ascent from Gaep’s abode to the slopes of Monte Crociglia (1.400 m), then, going through the pastures on the crest, it reaches Passo Cantone and enters the wood to climb up to Monte Careolo (1.558 m). From the meadow below to the top you may deviate and, in half an hour, you’ll reach Gambaro di Ferriere and admire its castle. Back to the meadow below .M.Carevolo and after climbing up close to the top, a steep descent in the wood ansd several ups and downs will lead you to Pietra Marcia’s peak (1.178 m). After a pine-wood you’ll reach Passo Mercatello, crossed by the road connecting Castelcanafurone to Ferriere. From Passo Mercatello the track climbs on the crest , up to the slopes of Groppi di Lavazzera, descends amid pastures and goes along a carriage track reaching a place called “Il Corso”. A white road, going along cultivated fields,ends up in Ciregna, end of this stage.
