By bicycle through Monticelli d’Ongina – Caorso – Cortemaggiore – S.Agata – Villanova sull’Arda – Castelvetro P.no – Monticelli d’Ongina.THE TRACK: A flat itinerary, at the side of Val d’Arda which borders with Cremona’s province. The track goes by the following places in the area: Monticelli d’Ongina, considered as Italy’s garlic capital city and hosting Po’s ethnographic museum( Museo Etnografico del Po)the only one of such kind; Caorso, with its fortress and Cortemaggiore, renaissance village.You can’t miss S.Pietro in Cerro’s castle: built in the 12th century, it’s got a square plan and an elegant internal arcade. The track proceeds up to S.Agata, goal of a lay-mélo pilgrimage to the house where Giuseppe Verdi lived. The house still preserve its original furniture. After Sant’agata, the track goes by Villanova sull’Arda, beautiful in the spring time, with hundreds of blooming cherry trees.It finally arrives in Castelvetro, surrounded by a typical Lombardic countryside, with its square rural courtyards.
