Val Tidone International Music Festival is back: from June until November 2024 16 free concerts.
Born in 1988 it carries music all around the valley, through the castles, theaters, villas, squares and in the most suggestive corners of the Val Tidone and the city of Piacenza.

The Festival hosts both world-renowned artists and young talents, while the Val Tidone International Music Competitions, sees hundreds of young musicians from all over the world meet in Piacenza.

The project includes also some masterclasses (Val Tidone Summer Camp), workshops and listening guides (Val Tidone Music Hours).

PROGRAM

Antonio Faraò’s New Quintet

When: Wednesday 19 June, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Piacenza, former Cantore Barracks
Concert by Antonio Faraò in homage to the legendary saxophonist Jackie McLean, with a repertoire mainly taken from the post-bop album ‘It’s Time’, recorded in 1965.

Magasin du Café

When: Sunday 23 June, 8 p.m.
Where: Calendasco, Guado di Sigerico
Music that speaks of distant traditions, with a universal sound, in which sounds with an exotic flavour but no geographical connotation are mixed with rock, folk, jazz and fusion.
At the end of the concert, it will be possible to dine at Guado di Sigerico, at the Circolo Biffulus, with prior booking.

Silvia Mezzanotte – My Queens

When: Tuesday 25 June, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Sarmato, Piazza Roma
Recital in which Silvia and her band interpret, in jazz atmospheres, the greatest singers of all times: from Liza Minnelli to Ornella Vanoni, from Marilyn Monroe to Mina, from Edith Piaf to Ella Fitzgerald, from Mia Martini to Maria Callas.

Cesare Bocci & Ensemble Saverio Mercadante – ‘Lucio Battisti: emotions’.

When: Wednesday 3 July, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Rottofreno, Loc. San Nicolò
A journey in the story of Lucio Battisti, with the famous actor Cesare Bocci and the Ensemble Saverio Mercadante, directed by Rocco Debernardis.

Uva Rara Band – Blues and More

When: Friday 5 July, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Alta Val Tidone, Loc. Trevozzo
Traditional stage of the Festival dedicated to local artists.

Valerio Chiovarelli Quintet – ‘Palabra de Cuba’

When: Saturday 6 July, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Agazzano, piazza Europa
A refined homage to Cuba signed by the Valerio Chiovarelli Quintet, an eclectic musician playing accordion and tuba.

Duettango

When: Tuesday 9 July, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Ziano Piacentino, Loc. Albareto, church square
Concert by Filippo Arlia, pianist and Cesare Chiacchiaretta, bandoneonist.

Unity Music – ‘Italian Songs Project’

When: Sunday 14 July, 7.15 p.m.
Where: Piozzano, Piazza dei Tigli
Concert of nine authors and fourteen Italian songs.

Richard Galliano – ‘Passion Galliano’

When: Wednesday 17 July, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Gragnano Trebbiense, hamlet of Campremoldo Sotto, Castelmantova park
Recital by Richard Galliano, accordionist.

Tullio De Piscopo & Modus Sextet

When: Saturday 20 July, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Pianello Val Tidone, Piazza Umberto I
10 years of artistic partnership with a new project that they will present in Pianello Val Tidone, where it all began in 2014.

Irene Grandi – Io in Blues

When: Tuesday 23 July, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Castel San Giovanni, Piazza XX Settembre
Irene returns to her first love, when she used to perform in small clubs interpreting the great blues and soul hits from the 1960s onwards, with tributes to music legends.

Lorena Fontana Septeto – ‘Tango for Ida’

When: Saturday, 27 July, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Borgonovo Val Tidone, Breno Tower
Protagonists of the concert are the singer Lorena Fontana and her Septet, with the project ‘Tango per Ida’. Released in September 2021 by Koinè, ‘Tango per Ida’ is a journey through the sung tango, in which Lorena Fontana revisits some of the most popular pieces of this musical genre born in Buenos Aires.

Lidiya Koycheva & Balkan Orkestra

When: Tuesday 30 July, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Gragnano Trebbiense, Piazza Verdi
Concert with Lidiya Koycheva and her music made of trills, mordents, odd times and dissonances.

Paolo Jannacci & Band – ‘In concert with Enzo’

When: Friday 2 August, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Alta Val Tidone, Loc. Pecorara
Singing and music show with good original jazz and songs by Enzo Jannacci.

Peppe Servillo & Solis String Quartet – ‘Carosonamente’

When: Tuesday 6 August, 9.15 p.m.
Where: Gazzola, Rivalta Castle
In 2022 Peppe Servillo and the Solis String Quartet created a new record work (‘Carosonamente’), dedicated to Renato Carosone, whose most famous songs they will perform.

Artemiy Sokolovskiy

When: Saturday 6 November, 8.30 pm
Where: Piacenza, Municipal Theatre
Traditional winter coda for the Val Tidone Festival, with the concert of Bengalli Prize 2023 winner Artemiy Sokolovskiy at Piacenza’s Municipal Theatre, in co-production with the Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza.

 

All concerts are free admission subject to availability.
In case of postponement due to bad weather to a date to be decided, the new date will be communicated on the website and through the social channels of the Val Tidone Musica Foundation and the media.
