History of the Hospital of Piacenza

The Hospital “Guglielmo da Saliceto,” traces its origins to a Papal Bull dated October 8, 1471. With this document Pope Sixtus IV legitimized the foundation of the “Ospedale Grande,” whose construction, on the land adjacent to the Monastery of the Holy Sepulchre, began on September 27, 1472.

Services

As a whole, the Hospital constitutes almost a health “citadel” in the city’s historic center.
The Presidio Ospedaliero provides inpatient and day-hospital services, specialized outpatient, diagnostic and therapeutic services, extensive and intensive rehabilitation treatments, and preventive interventions.
The structure of the Piacenza Hospital Presidio, is currently outlined by the following articulations: Old Core, Poly-surgical and Specialty Medicine Pavilion (Old Core: Via Taverna No. 49; Poly-surgical: Canton of Christ 40; Specialty Medicine Pavilion: Canton of Christ 2).
