In Piacenza’s chronicles Celleri castle is recalled as one of the several fortresses where the Guelphs retreated when they were driven out of their town by their rivals. In the 19th century the former fortress was radically modified and transformed into a residential villa. According to the tradition Corrado Confalonieri was born here in 1284. According to the historian A.D. Rossi, the Saint was born in Piacenza,in the old Cacciarolo Counts palace. According to others, the Saint was born in the building known as Confalonieris Tower.
