Built in the 18th century, the church has a central plan; in the two side chapels there are the tombs of the two saints from Piacenza: Franca and Raimondo. Though recent, its name enables to connect it with an important page of medieval history, when Raimondo Palmerio, after living as a pilgrim in Palestine, founded a hospice once back in Piacenza.
The church and the monastery close by, though lying in the historical centre of Piacenza, became spiritual centres and a school for praying.
