Managed by Capuchine friars; throughout centuries the friars have changed several parts of the building, above all after World War II, when a plane had destroyed part of it; on the other hand, the church underwent restoration works in the late 70s.
This is the period when Santa Rita Chapel was built: it was decorated by Carlo Donati and the presbitery was decorated by sculptures by Paolo Perotti; some of the paintings are by Guercino and Malosso.
The culpt of Santa Rita is widely spread in Piacenza: Santa Rita is the protector saint of car drivers and is celebrated every year on 22nd May.
