The municipal coat of arms of Fiorenzuola d’Arda ( The roses of Fiorenzuola) derives from the myth.
Historical roots
In the times of the civil war between Mario and Silla, there was an hard and vicious battle near Fidenza city; in this circumstance the soldiers of Silla were prevailing, led by Marco Lucullo.
According to the legend, at the end of the battle, a really strong wind started blowing, all the roses petals from a field flew away and they rested on the heads and the chests of the winners.
And so they became the roses of Fiorenzuola
The near city of Fiorenzuola d’Arda decided to remember this “miracle” on its coats of arm, in which, namely, three white roses are rapresented on a red background.
