During XNL Aperto opens the exhibition
Out of the Grid. Italian zine 1978-2006. Post-movement pre-internet 3.0

A project taken from the publication of the same name published by Les presses du réel (2023) dedicated to Italian editorial self-productions, Out of the Grid starts from a research by the artist Dafne Boggeri, in collaboration with Sara Serighelli and Ilenia Arosio, Marta Zanoni, Leonardo Caldana and Maddalena Manera.
The aim is to give visibility to those autonomous movements that originated on paper and then reached other mediums: from postage stamps to answering machine messages, from radio to
fax machine, from floppy disks to vinyls, magnetic tapes, CDs, VHS or the sides of train carriages, all the way to digital.
The exhibition retraces parts of the book, with more than 100 cards dedicated to fanzines, and expands with some conversations dedicated to the context of self-productions, from music to art.
A programme of three free public meetings will accompany the exhibition.
