By MTB through Monticelli d’Ongina – Castelvetro Piacentino.THE TRACK: The track goes along the flat land surrounding Monticelli d’Ongina, a village where Isola Serafini, a wide bend created by the river Po, is located. The great river is a fundamental element in the landscape, economy and cooking of the village (based on delicious dishes cooked with eels and sturgeons). You can’t miss visiting the ethnographic museum dedicated to the river Po.The museum is in the cellars of the beautiful renaissance fortress, where also Corte’s chapel is (decorated with Bembo’s school frescoes). You’ll finally reach Castelvetro, Piacenza’s last outpost before crossing the river Po.It still preserves its roman “castrum” structure and some remains of medieval fortifying structures.
