The itinerary proposed is a long and staged trekking on Trebbia and Nure valleys’ ridges: an itinerary that allows trekkers to tread the old ways of the salt along which travelled coaches transporting corn to Genoa and then went back to Pianura Padana full of olive oil, salt and spices.
FIRST STAGE: Selva – “Stoto”‘s abode (4-5 hrs).THE TRACK: This stage passes by the southernmost part of the itinerary. It goes along the slopes of Monte Bue, close to Monte Maggiorasca (1.789 m). Climb along the asphalted road leading to Zovallo up to “Lago Nero” hotel, which is on the cart road between Passo Zovallo and Selva, at 3,5 kilometers from Selva.Start climbing along Monte Armano’s (1.400 m)slopes, and you’ll soon pass “Moglia Rossa” and le “Buche”. At about 15 minutes’ walk after Monte Armano our trek leaves the path and takes a new path on the right. Go further upwards till you reach Lago Nero, dominated Monte Nero ‘s crest(1.700 m). After lago Nero the path still climbs up, at 1.700 m, and goes round Monte Bue’s top (1.777 m). You’ll descend along abandoned ski tracks up to Prato Cipolla, basin rich in waters. From Prato Cipolla enter thick beech woods til you reach Passo Roncala, where the path descends in narrow gravelly bends through ghiaiosi Sergamada’s wood. After going round Ciappa Liscia and Rocca Marsia rocky structure, the path climbs up again till it reaches Passo Crociglia. At Passo Crociglia take the cart road to Selva and you’ll soon reach Stoto’s abode, end of this stage.
