It dates back to 1929. After the war, was restored on the initiative of OlympiO Gambini. It has been the location for differet scenes of clashes between prominent champions, including Bartali and Coppi. In recent years, after a further restructuring, has hosted the Italian Championships, World Cup, World Junior Championships and the Six Days of the Roses.
