The giant bench installed in Veano presents itself as a project between history and nature.
In the Vigolzone area, precisely in the locality of Veano, the 357th Giant Bench of the Big Bench Community Project was inaugurated. A special place, where the beauty of nature merges with a piece of local history, giving visitors a unique experience.
A Red Icon Telling the Story of Giulio Alberoni
The Veano bench is not only a scenic spot to relax, but also a symbol celebrating one of the most illustrious figures in Piacenza’s history: Cardinal Giulio Alberoni. The bench, in a bright cardinal’s red, recalls the very purple suit that the cardinal wore in his most famous portrait, of the Molinaretto circle (G.M. delle Piane).
Positioned along the tree-lined avenue leading to Villa Alberoni, the bench offers a breathtaking view of the Piacenza valley, a landscape rooted in over three centuries of history.
This bench represents the second in the Vigolzone area, after the one in Villò, inaugurated in 2022. Like any giant bench, it invites you to stop, breathe and enjoy the view, but in the case of Veano, the landscape is enriched by a historical element of great value.
A special place, where the beauty of nature merges with a piece of local history, offering visitors A Reflection Point between Past and Present
Sitting on the bench at Villa Alberoni is an opportunity to look at the world from another perspective. The project itself is intended to suggest stopping, looking and reflecting. The Veano bench not only invites one to enjoy the natural beauty of its surroundings, but is also an invitation to discover the long history that has shaped this corner of Piacenza.
In fact, the Big Bench Community Project has enriched the experience with interactive panels that, through 5 QR codes, allow visitors to immerse themselves in the history of Giulio Alberoni and his College, the Villa Alberoni and the Veano estate. Each QR code is linked to a historical question, allowing visitors to explore events, curiosities and legends concerning these places, for a journey through time that is interwoven with the beauty of the landscape.
A Project that goes further: The Passport to the Giant Benches
The Big Bench Community Project is not only an invitation to stop and enjoy the view, but also an experience to collect. Each giant bench has in fact a dedicated stamp, and the bench in Veano is no exception. Visitors who decide to start their tour of the giant benches right from Veano will be able to buy the special passport and have it stamped in two symbolic places:
- the Villa Alberoni
- the Relais – Birreria ‘Il Viaggio Impresa sociale’
A fun way to discover the more than 350 giant benches scattered around the world, while collecting memories of each stop.
