In each of the provincial capitals there is a Questura(police headquarters), the best known of the territorial offices of the State Police.
Functions
At its head is the Quaestor, the provincial public security authority. There are normally two divisions in a police headquarters: the Anti-Crime Police, of which the Mobile Squad is a part, and the Administrative and Social Police.
There are also five management offices: the Cabinet Office, the Personnel Office, the Digos, the Administrative-Accounting Office and the Health Office.
Commissariats
In some municipalities and neighborhoods of large cities there are Commissariats, which are dependent on the police headquarters and reproduce their internal organizational pattern in a small way. They are headed by personnel belonging to the role of civil servants.
Finally, it should be noted that on the territory under the jurisdiction of the police headquarters there may also be Police Posts, which are mainly concerned with territorial control and the acceptance of complaints.
