The City Museum is in the former refectory and hand-washing rooms of Saint Columba’s Monastery, and supplies a didactic and introductory itinerary to know the other museums and the whole town. The diverse sections deal with aspects and works of Saint Columba, from the Irish prelude to his arrival in Bobbio, Longobardic Italy’s geo-political situation and Scriptorium activity. The display is carried out through light and traslucent stands on which texts and illustrations are ordered, and through multimedia aids. The first interactive program is a kind of paleography lesson, with the reproduction of manuscripts edited in Bobbio. The user gets to know writing and decoration modes and techniques in the different historical periods, and also the productive organization of the scriptorium. A second program allows to begin a virtual tour of the Abbey Complex .
