From the 24th of October 2025 a significant selection of the museum’s holdings it’s displayed in a temporary location.<\/p>\n

The Little Museum of Natural History<\/h3>\n

Where<\/strong>: Exhibition Space, Farnese Palace, piazza Cittadella 29, Piacenza
\nWhen<\/strong>: from the 24th of October 2025<\/p>\n

Among the exhibits are the precious mineralogical (over 1,400 specimens from around the world) and malacological (fossil shell) collections donated by the Dosi and Della Marta families, respectively. Approximately twenty highly valuable and interesting taxidermied animal specimens from around the world will also be on display, some of which will be on display for the first time.<\/p>\n

The Civic Museum of Natural History<\/strong> of Piacenza occupies an area of 3500 square metres and hosts some precious scientific collections. **From January 7, 2025, the Museum will be closed to the public for relocation to new location**<\/strong><\/p>\n

The building<\/h3>\n

It is located in the former abattoir area, inside a building dating back to 1912 which was used as ice house to preserve food and meat.<\/p>\n

The rooms<\/h3>\n

In the rooms of the museums there are remains of plants, animals, stones, minerals, fossils and much more.
\nIn the lower level there are also some themed display cases on the Apennine area dedicated to birds, animals, flowers and plants.
\nThe museum also hosts temporary exhibits about nature, the environment and ecology.<\/p>\n

Services<\/h3>\n

Services: guided tours, laboratories, conferences, training courses for teachers and students.
\nIn the museum there is a small library not accessible to the public, which offers specialised documents – but also popularised texts – for students.
