{"id":42558,"date":"2023-06-05T14:12:19","date_gmt":"2023-06-05T12:12:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/visitpiacenza.it\/events\/palio-delle-contrade-a-bobbio\/"},"modified":"2026-06-20T17:09:31","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T15:09:31","slug":"palio-delle-contrade-a-bobbio","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/visitpiacenza.it\/en\/events\/palio-delle-contrade-a-bobbio\/","title":{"rendered":"Palio delle contrade a Bobbio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every year in <a href=\"https:\/\/visitpiacenza.it\/en\/art-and-culture\/bobbio-2\/\">Bobbio<\/a>, a village located in the heart of the Trebbia Valley, there is an historical festival.<\/p>\n<h3>The Palio delle Contrade<\/h3>\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: 27 and 28 June 2026<br \/>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: historical center, Bobbio<\/p>\n<p>The historical event involves various competitions of skill in which the contradaioli compete with the aim of crowning the Contrada Regina, which will carry the title for one year, putting it back on the line the following year.<\/p>\n<p>There are five contrade of Bobbio and they take their names from the ancient gateways to the medieval town:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Porta Alcarina<\/li>\n<li>Porta Legleria<\/li>\n<li>Porta Frangula<\/li>\n<li>Porta Agazza<\/li>\n<li>Porta Nova<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each contrada has a distinctive color and its own banner. The same colors are used for the clothes of the contradaioli who will test themselves in the palio competitions.<\/p>\n<h3>Programme<\/h3>\n<h3>Entertainment and travelling shows<\/h3>\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: 27 June, from 4 pm<br \/>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: historic centre, Bobbio<\/p>\n<h3>Children\u2019s Palio<\/h3>\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: 27 June, 4.30 pm<br \/>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Piazza Santa Fara, Bobbio<\/p>\n<h3>Flag-wavers and musicians<\/h3>\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: 27 June, from 6.30 pm<br \/>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: historic centre, Bobbio<\/p>\n<h3>Grand historical procession<\/h3>\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: 27 June, 4.30 pm<br \/>\n<strong>Where<\/strong>: Piazza Santa Fara, Bobbio<\/p>\n<p>Presentation of the Contrade and official launch of the Palio challenge.
