Few kilometers far from Piacenza, this is one of the most interesting tracts of the River Po; it is an example of typical environments, such as river branches, cane thickets, riparian woods and remains of flat land vegetation that no longer exists in most of the Padana Valley territory. Most of the territory in oasi De Pinedo is part of the protected natural reserve around the already closed Caorso Nuclear Plant. Also for this reason its been preserved from man’s intrusion: in effect, several animal species, such as red heron, marsh hawk and Lateste frog live there.
The area is protected by the Provincial Territorial Plan and the Regional Landscape Plan.
