Where it is

The town is located on the road to Cremona along the banks of the Po river, where the profile of the “Arturo” nuclear power plant, deactivated in 1988, still stands out.

Don’t miss

Not to be missed are Mandelli fortress, seat of the town hall, where you can admire the chapel of the Penitents and the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, patron saint of the municipality. Not far from the town on the riverside between Caorso and Monticelli d’Ongina “Pinedo Oasis” represents a privileged observatory on nature, where peculiar kinds of flowers and animals can be discovered.

On the table

The products that the earth offers in this area are in particular garlic and onion, suitable for flavoring the typical local dishes. The presence of the river also influences the culinary tradition, which actually includes fish.

Keeping fit

Along the main embankment of the river Po there is a perfect path for trekking and cycling, part of the “cycle path of the Po” which moves between Lombardy and Emilia astride the great river, which includes the natural oasis of Isola de Pinedo.

Significant appointments

Every fourth Sunday of the month the market “Ricordi del passato”.

In the surroundings

A passage to Isola Serafini is recommended for those who love river navigation. Art and culture show their best expression in the castles of Monticelli d’Ongina and San Pietro in Cerro, just a few kilometers from Caorso.
