It dates back to the Middle Ages and in the centuries after the year 1000 it was a tributary of the cathedral. The present building was built in the 18th century and further renovation works have been carried out even recently.In 1975 the whole presbytery, which occupies most of the church, was restored. To adapt the building to the new liturgies, sculptures by Paolo Perotti were added: recently Ada Tassi sculpted San Camillo de Lellis. Among the paintings, there is one portraying Sant’Ildefonso by Francesco Ferrante and a Madonna by Bossi, ordered by Carlo Carasi.
