The Sala dei Teatini(Hall of the Theatines), Former Church of St. Vincent reopened in December 2009 at the end of two years of uninterrupted work, during which the restoration of the building and all its frescoes was completed.
The state of conservation
The marvelous frescoes that now illuminate the interior of the former church that belonged to the Order of the Theatines had been inaccessible for years and were in an advanced state of decay.
Recovery
The recovery of the paintings, as well as the wooden works and the facade, was possible thanks to an onerous restoration effort that involved disparate subjects and trades, under the skillful coordination of the Superintendency and the Municipal Offices.
Of interest are the frescoes and decorations created by Giovan Evangelista Draghi and the Flemish-born painter Robert de Longe, among others.
The transformation into a Hall
Once the restoration work was completed, an avant-garde project transformed the former church into a modern auditorium: a vital and usable place of culture. The acoustic characteristics and technological solutions adopted, in particular, made it possible for it to be used as a rehearsal hall for the “Luigi Cherubini” Youth Orchestra conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti, which is based in Piacenza.
Among the events held in the hall are the concerts of the Allegro con Brio festival, organized in collaboration with the Nicolini Conservatory.
