During the first weekend of September, from Friday 1st to Monday 4th September, one of the three PDO cured meats of the Piacenza area (coppa, salami and pancetta) is celebrated.
Coppa is produced using the back part of the pig’s neck; two coppas are produced for each animal. The specifications state that only meat from pigs born, raised, fed and slaughtered in the surrounding areas must be processed, and maturing must also take place in the Piacenza area.
Gastronomic stands, a market, entertainment for children and live music animate the streets and squares of the historic centre for three days.
