Only Italian date for the legendary ensemble from Phoenix, Arizona: actually, under the acronym Boxhead Ensemble lies a genius musician who for 30 years has been signing what, according to specialized music critics, is among the most innovative music on the American scene. Surrounding Michael Krassner’s genius are the best minds of his generation such as Jim O’Rourke, John McEntire and ensembles such as Tortoise, Califone and the Loftly Pillars. Seabuckthorn

When: Friday, Sept. 13, 9:15 p.m.
Where: Piacenza and Vigevano Foundation Auditorium, Via Sant’Eufemia 12, Piacenza

The Italian translation of this sea shrub is Olivello spinoso. But, in music, it is the name under which hides Andy Cartwright, a British guitarist and composer whose expressive language, employing a dobro guitar with infinite echoes and reverberations, along with a double bass, delineates new spaces drawing on a buried and shared memory. A very sweet but at the same time evocative and in some moments, as with the shrub, thorny music.

All concerts are free admission.
