From September 23, 2022, the program of XNL Piacenza– Center for Contemporary Art, Cinema, Theater and Music- officially opens, under the Artistic Direction of Paola Nicolin.
The first exhibition-marching features Francesco Simeti with
Come un limone Lunare (Like a Lunar Lemon)
When: September 22nd 2022 – March 19th 2023
The work shown is strictly connected to the artist’s research, which since the beginning of his career has been collecting images from disparate materials: agricultural and botanical manuals, essays on ornithology and natural sciences, pages from newspapers, herbariums, Renaissance notebooks images taken from rural iconography.
For the Piacenza exhibition, Francesco Simeti proposes a reflection on Nature and what makes people buy its images. He reasons about the nature of images, considered as fossils of the future. Simeti proposes themes that are a leitmotif of his research: the environmental crisis, the drama of conflicts and the consequent displacement of people, the coexistence of real and artificial, past and future, physical and digital.
The Palazzo XNL Piacenza has two exhibition spaces for the visual arts. An Anticipation about the second space: from November to March there will be an exhibition around the figure of
Sonia Terk Delaunay
Ulla von Brandenburg (Karlsruhe 1974; lives and works in Paris) and Meris Angioletti (Bergamo, 1976; lives and works in Paris) will work around the figure of Sonia Terk Delaunay: a pioneer of a joyful creativity, born from the profound research on the perceptual interdependence of colors and media toward a simultaneity of the arts.
The building is located on Via Santa Franca, opposite the Conservatorio Nicolini on the corner of Via San Siro, bordering the Galleria d’Arte Moderna Ricci Oddi, entities with which it has created a dialogue project.
