As part of the Ospiti in Galleria (Hosts in the Gallery) initiative at the Ricci Oddi Modern Art Gallery, with loans of works that dialogue with the collection, the event
Morbelli a confronto (in comparison)
When: Sept. 27-Oct. 27, 2024
Where: Ricci Oddi Gallery of Modern Art, Via San Siro 13, Piacenza
Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Friday to Sunday, 3 to 6 p.m.
The fifth appointment of Ospiti in Galleria, an exhibition review that brings together works from Ricci Oddi and loans from public institutions and private collections, is dedicated to Angelo Morbelli (Alessandria 1853 – Milan 1919).
On display for comparison are two works that, 25 years apart, deal with the same subject. Nebbia Domenicale 1890, belonging to a private collection is displayed alongside the work from the Piacenza collection Alba domenicale, 1915.
The viewer has an exceptional opportunity to grasp Morbelli’s continuing search for a language capable of capturing light and transferring it effectively to canvas. The transition from the impasto painting of the first painting to the vibrant divided score of the Ricci Oddi painting exemplifies the author’s stylistic journey with extreme synthesis and clarity.
